Anthony Summersell - Chair and Founder

 

Anthony Summersell first went to Tanzania in 2001, this sparking his continued interest in the country since.

 

Anthony has been involved with Let Them Shine from the start and continues to take a very active role in all aspects of the charity including the day to day management.

Anthony usually makes two visits to Tanzania a year, personally paying for travel, subsistence etc, to help manage the the operation 'on the ground'. 

Helen Bostock - Trustee

 

Helen Bostock has over 25 years experience working in global financial services and is now a director of Alter Domus, based in Luxembourg.  

Helen has been a trustee of Let Them Shine since 2010, and completed a number of fundraising activities on behalf of the centre including a sky dive in 2012.  She visited Lukani with her husband and daughter in 2013 and is looking forward to returning.

Emma Openshaw - Trustee

Emma Openshaw is a media professional whose career reflects a blend of creative storytelling and strategic industry insight. Born and raised in the bustle of Johannesburg, South Africa, she has passion for storytelling across forms with a strategic vision for industry growth.

 

Currently serving as Senior Research Analyst at Olsberg•SPI, Emma advises on the development of the global screen sector, contributing to and leading high-impact studies and policy frameworks that shape film, television and interactive media industries worldwide.

Thomas Summersell

 

Tom is a Data Analyst with over five years of experience in the insurance industry. Currently at AXA his expertise in data analysis and strategic insights has been instrumental in supporting business decision-making and growth.

 

Tom visited the Children’s Centre in late 2016 before becoming a trustee shortly after. He helps support with fundraising as well as assisting Anthony with some of the financial and governance tasks associated with the running of the charity.

Stephanie Clarke

Stephanie is an Operations Manager within Defence, with over 10 years of experience across the public sector, in Project Delivery, Service Management, and Operations Management. 

Stephanie became a sponsor of the charity in March 2024, having been introduced to its work by her partner, Jack, who is also a Trustee. Stephanie is currently planning a visit for early 2027 and, in the meantime, is actively looking to support fundraising initiatives and raise awareness of the charity’s work as a Trustee.

Daniel Thompson 

 

Daniel Thompson is a digital media specialist at a tech firm in London. With over 10 years of experience in media and storytelling, Daniel helps support the Let Them Shine social media presence and on-site content for the charity. With the help of his wife, Allison, who has over a decade of PR experience, Daniel plans and builds content which highlights the stories of Lukani Village and the Lukani Children's Centre. 

 

Daniel visited Lukani in 2023 and can't wait to return in the near future. 

Jack Summersell

Jack is a serving Commissioned Officer in the Royal Air Force, who specialises in Communications and Electronic Engineering following his degree in Mechanical Engineering. Jack brings extensive expertise in project management, project delivery, and leadership which he will utilise to support the charity. 

 

Jack's connection to Tanzania was formed in 2005, where at the age of 9 years old he first visited the country, and has been back multiple times since. Jack has utilised recent visits to provide support to the charity and is delighted to formalise this commitment by becoming a trustee.
